HSAA Planned Return to Competition

With restrictions easing HSAA are planning the following competition:

Wednesday 26th May: U15 Boys and Girls Pentathlon - more information on the Combined Events page.

Saturday 12th June: HSAA Track and Field Championships at Portsmouth. Probably Junior events in the morning and Inter/Senior events in the afternoon. This is liable to change.
If we have insufficient entries to hold Steeplechase events, athletes may go to the Kent Schools event where there will be Steeplechase events.

July: possible U13/U14 Track and Field Championships in some format.

There will not be an Inter-County Track and Field event this year. An open event scheduled at Lee Valley, which would have been the final opportunity to achieve an ESAA entry standard, has now unfortunately been cancelled.

Provisionally the ESAA Championships (9th - 11th July in Manchester) will be in a very different format. The competition will be over 3 days with Seniors on Friday 9th, Inters on Saturday 10th and Juniors on Sunday 11th.

Athletes will have to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation but the entry fee will be reduced to allow for this.

As there has been so little opportunity for competition, we recommend that you look for any open meetings in the area in which you could compete and get a good performance. To find licensed open meeting please go to:

England Athletics>Competitions and Events>Licensed Competitions>Licensed Track and Field Competitions.

This will be kept updated and these competitions' results will appear on the Power of 10.

I do not have firm details of the selection procedure at the moment but I think that the self-declaration on the ESAA website will still be in operation so it is important that ALL athletes who achieve an Entry Standard (displayed on the ESAA website, under Track and Field and Current Standards) follow the instructions on the website to indicate their availability.

HSAA will then decide which athletes they will nominate to compete.

However, the ESAA Championships will have a maximum of 16 competitors in each event so, after entries are in ESAA will have the final say on which entries are accepted. They will base this largely but not solely on the Power of 10.
